Now That's A Lawn!

Can you believe this picture was taken on Madison's cell phone?! A friend told us we should photoshop ourselves into the lawn of the White House and use it as our Xmas card. :) Madi had a great time visiting the other Washington. As you can tell, the weather was perfect for her trip. Keep checkin' back. . .more photos to come!

People to People

It's off to Washington, DC on a red eye flight tonight! Madison has been looking forward to this trip since September! She'll be with 21 other kids her age from around the country taking in the sights of our nation's capitol while learning about how government works inside and outside our boundaries. I'll be in South Carolina, soaking in the southern hospitality! I'm excited to spend time with my friend whom I haven't seen in almost 9 years! We'll be back home next week to find out how all the parties went for Doug and Taylor while we were gone.

Cindy Lou Who

No trip to Medford seems complete without backpacking on Grampa. Just waking up from a nap, we rushed Avery out the door to do a round at the putt putt golf course. With bed head hair the best option seemed to be the ever so popular "Cindy Lou Who" hairdo. . . .pigtail style! We think she looked adorable!

It's In My Genes. . .

With both Mom & Dad's love of reading, you might expect Avery would love books too. What more could a toddler want?. . .a willing listener that acts as if they understand every word! What more could a dog want?. . .a cushy bed, a bedtime story and a bone. Shasta is more than happy to delay her exit to the outdoors. Rachel's pleased that Avery has advanced from tearing pages to turning them. :)

4 Nights, Right?

Hailey (5 yrs) Avery (17 mos)
"We get to spend 4 nights, right?" was Miss Hailey Henken's question when we headed out for Medford, OR. She has been patiently waiting her turn on a road trip with us. A 7+ hour drive to see Rachel, Ryan and Avery is a long way for a 5 year old. Half way we stopped for breakfast. Climbing back in the truck, Hailey asked "How much longer to Rachel's, Grampa?". When he told her "about 3 and half hours", she thought for a minute and then replied,"I think you need to find a shortcut!" What a trooper! Pulling into the Allred's driveway we're pretty sure we heard her say, "Swweeettt!"

Short = Tall

She made the decision, certain of it as a matter of fact. The girl's vision was clear. . .she'd been waiting for it. Off with the locks of curls, in with the stylish bob. And all we could say was "WOW!" Then the mom said to the hairstylist "What did you do with my little girl?". Comments like "Are you in college?" the next day confirmed it. We love Taylor's newly added confidence! That and the hairstyle look beautiful on her!

Welcome New Baby!

Hayden John Henken
We anxiously awaited in our usual spots. . .sitting in chairs we pulled around the nurse's station, Doug and Dr. Randy Magley reminiscing about their former basketball days and catching each other up on what's new. All the while, Becky is laboring in the room behind us. Sipping on Starbuck's lattes, Mountain Dew and eating Nacho Doritos (okay. .we needed energy) until the nurse popped her head out and told Randy Becky was ready to go! Our new little love bundle introduced himself at 12:44 am, Tuesday, March 25th. Weighing in at 8 lbs. 9 oz, he let us hear him sing for supper right away! Perfect!
