Walk the Walk, Talk the Art

The PTA at the elementary school where the girls went sponsers an Art Walk every year with art work/projects done by K - 5th grade students. We love this event! There are artists in action, a fun art walk cafe' (this year's treats were especially yummy!) and projects done by the kids that knock your socks off! The grid projects this year were amazing. To get the proper perspective. . .the Georgia O'Keefe piece was taken from the 8"x11" print you see hanging to the side and cut into 1" sqares for the kids to re-do onto 8"x11" paper. So the project hanging on the wall is 8 ft. by 11 ft.!!

This Renoir is unbelievable! Our friend, Lisa (in the green print top) was the coordinator of the Maple Lawn Elementary Art Walk this year and she put on an exceptional show. . .no surprise to anyone that knows her . .. she is one of the most creative people I know. Lisa is 5'6". . .that should help give you an idea on the size of this grid conversion! I have to share the funniest thing we heard that night. . .a 2nd grader walking one of his friends by his classroom project said "see, here's ours. . .it the cemetary one!". . .I looked up to see that his class had done theirs on "symmetry". Too funny!

Auntie Debbie

Nobody loves babies more than Auntie Debbie! She's been patiently waiting to see Hayden. One month old and he's got two adoring women swooning over him. Great Grandma Gloria and Great Aunt Debbie. . . .lucky little boy!

Introducing Bella

Lee, Chrystle and Kylee have added a new member to their family. . . Bella Marie. I've been pushing for another niece or nephew. . oh well, this little one is pretty cute! A cockapoo like Zoe, she's probably going to be a bit bigger. At 9 weeks, Bella thinks Zoe's so cool! Zoe is not feeling the love yet, but we're hopeful they'll turn into playful dog cousins. By the way. . .is that bed to die for or what?!

Smart Girls Feel Their Boobies

My friend Melinda's dad, Jim, was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. A rarity for men, and terribly frightening, we know this enemy primarily attacks women. Most of us know someone who has had to fight for their life and many of us have been touched by the life of someone that has lost the battle. It defined a passion within Melinda to "Walk for the Cure". This year will be her 5th year walking to raise money to fight this dreadful disease. These are some of the pictures from her walk in Seattle last year. I am honored to support her with this year's upcoming fundraiser as she breaks out her walking shoes to help FIND A CURE.
The title of this posting is what you read on the bumper sticker that Melinda created last year. Under the slogan reads: Early detection saves lifes ~ How smart are you? Wait 'till you see her slogan this year!!
